The Key Alliance promotes Housing First, a best-practice model that offers permanent housing coupled with intense case management to the most vulnerable homeless individuals in our community.
Housing First is a cost-effective and proven solution to chronic homelessness that is being implemented across the United States. Housing First can be accomplished without building new housing stock. Nashville has enough existing housing inventory which allows us to partner with property managers, developers and landlords to lease low-income rental units
Dear Music City Center Stakeholder: We are excited to let you know our new website launched Friday offering users easy access to high resolution renderings of the building’s design, links to the real-time construction web camera, Facebook page, and Twitter accounts, construction facts, and current financial reports. The site, http://www.nashvillemusiccitycenter.com was designed in collaboration with Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County’s Information Technology Web team. “We’ve worked to make sure any and all information about this project is completely transparent,” said Larry Atema, senior project and development manager for the Convention Center Authority. “We are really proud to be able to share information with the local community about important facets of the project in addition to construction, such as our workforce development program and all the area businesses working on the job.”

Nashville Bike Share is a free service provided to all residents and students in Nashville, 18 and older. It is a pilot program that brings the first free-public bike rental program to the state of Tennessee.
The goal of NBS is to provide alternative transportation and healthy-recreation opportunities for Nashvillians. There are 2 free-bike rental locations in Nashville: The downtown Music City Star Riverfront Station and the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center. The bicycles we call City Cruisers can help fill the gap for trips too far to walk, and too short for other modes of public transit or automobiles.
The 2 bike stations are directly linked to more than 40 miles of greenways trails and 94 miles of on-road bike lanes and routes. Click through this site for more information and sign up to use the NBS system. http://www.nashvillebikeshare.org/home

Overview of Central efforts to date Church Street Park area on Quality of Life concerns from Commander Damian Huggins:
-I have directed 7 day coverage over the area of Church St., Capital St. area until further notice from dawn until Church St. Park closing and a C detail directive for continuous checks throughout the night for trespassing issues until A detail comes on. -I contacted Captain Phil Hardin of THP over the Legislative plaza (on 7/9/10) to meet and discuss what they can do on their property to address trespassing there as it has become a point of gathering. Meeting is tentative 19th or 20th of this month. -Met with Downtown Partnership and discussed what they could do and possibly hosting a safety meeting at their location in the near future. -Ran CAD report of calls in the RPA’s of the area around Church St. and Capital St. Reporting period 1/1/09 to 7/7/09 v/s 1/1/10 to 7/7/10. This shows self initiated police activity of community contacts up from 88 to 216 or 245%. Also Business checks in this area over the same time frame up from 113 to 227 or 200 %. Thefts in this area went from 38 to 32 or down 16%. Calls that where increases were noticed were consistent to the increased police presence and activity here. -Parks Police requested several weeks ago and they have been conducting daily patrols in this area and will be included in long term coverage planning in the Church St. Park. -Continuing efforts to implement bench warrants for repeat offenders that do not honor the Metro Ordinance conditions. -Continuing efforts to lock into place a chronic offender program that addresses those that impact our resident and businesses and resources the most by repeat arrest by applying the current sentencing laws in a responsible and appropriate manner. (This will also have resources attached for individual treatment for long term solutions and support for those identified by arrest volume).
